and we invert your outcomes to maximize the environmental sustainability of your solid waste program, increasing reuse and recycling, and using the remaining active resources to produce clean renewable energy so that you are left with less than 5% of inert materials that can be safely managed.

How We Do It

NWSI believes very strongly that the implementation of a successful program solution depends on knowing the environment, stakeholders, existing situation, and desired outcomes. That is why we always start with meetings to understand objectives, and studies to fully understand where the program is and how to evolve it to where it is desired to go. We then work closely with the stakeholder to achieve their objectives.

Waste-to-Energy

NWSI’s advanced thermal conversion of waste destined for landfills creates clean renewable energy from otherwise wasted resources:

  • NWSI’s innovative resources processing methodology creates an optimized, measured, consistent, and homogenous blend of residual derived fuel (RDF) for thermal conversion.
  • This optimized consistent RDF blend is then thermally converted into a polished synthetic gas.
  • The polished syngas is then used to fuel generators to produce clean renewable energy.
  • The NWSI facilities are 2-3 times more energy efficient than incineration.
  • More importantly, processing waste significantly reduces harmful methane greenhouse gases that continuously escape into the atmosphere from landfills.

Hazardous Waste & Contaminated Site Materials Processing

NWSI’s hazardous waste facilities process a variety of hazardous materials:

  • The process utilizes high-temperature plasma-fueled furnaces to turn hazardous materials into molten slag.
  • The slag is then cooled and broken up as inert safe glass like rock slag.
  • The slag can be marketed safely for civil engineering projects like roadbeds and railway-beds.
  • The technology and process has been commercially operational for over 25 years.
  • This is a proven, environmentally sustainable and safe alternative to burying the materials, which poses significant environmental risks and leaves the sites for future generations to deal with.
